TARČIN, October 6 (FENA) - The second pipe of the 1721-meter-long Ivan tunnel on the Tarčin-Konjic section was drilled through on Wednesday, three weeks ahead of schedule.
The works on drilling the tunnel through the Ivan mountain began in January last year, while in July this year, a 1761-meter-long left pipe was broken through.
"The teams worked through 24 hours a day, in three shifts. The average daily progress was up to 3.5 meters, and a total of 330,000 cubic meters of material was excavated, which is installed in the embankment of the motorway route," stated the FBiH Motorways.
The Ivan tunnel is a two-pipe tunnel with two lanes. The left and right pipes are connected with five transverse connections, as well as one transverse connection for the passage of emergency vehicles.
The contractor on this subsection is Euro-Asfalt Sarajevo. Construction supervision is performed by IRD Engineering S.r.l. from Italy.
The value of the contract for the construction of the Ivan tunnel is EUR 57,628,570.37 without VAT, and the funds are provided through the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in the amount of EUR 50 million and European Union grants in the amount of EUR 11.4 million euros provided under the Connecting Agenda through the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF).
On the other hand, the value of the contract for the construction of the Tarčin sub-section - entrance to the Ivan tunnel is EUR 66,584,028.92 without VAT and is financed by funds provided by the European Investment Bank (EIB) and non-refundable grant funds approved by WBIF (EU funds) amounting to 11.7 million euros.
The planned deadline for putting the Tarčin - Ivan subsection into operation is the summer of 2022.
