The 18th anniversary of Alija Izetbegović's death marked at Kovači cemetery

SARAJEVO, October 19 (FENA) - On the occasion of the 18th anniversary of the death of the first President of the Presidency of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina Alija Izetbegović, Chairman and member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić and Šefik Džaferović, Speaker of the House of Peoples of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly and President of the Party of Democratic Action Bakir Izetbegović, and numerous other delegations laid flowers today at his grave and the tombstone at the Kovači cemetery.

“Today we remember, pay our respects and express our gratitude to the late President for everything he has done for Bosnia and Herzegovina. He indebted BiH with his work for all time,” BiH Presidency member Šefik Džaferović told reporters.

According to him, Alija Izetbegović is the most important person in the modern history of BiH, he was at the head of BiH when Bosnia and Herzegovina had the hardest time in its history, i.e. at a time when BiH was fighting for its independence, international recognition but also against aggression.

He pointed out that these are great achievements in the history of each state, and that Alija Izetbegović was at the head and led all these processes and forever indebted BiH with his work.

President of the Party of Democratic Action, Bakir Izetbegović, said that today was a spontaneous reaction of the people and that he cannot remember this many people ever coming on the anniversary of the death of Alija Izetbegović.

A large number of citizens gathered at the Kovači cemetery today, and in addition to laying flowers, a special address and a religious program were held.
