SARAJEVO, January 25 (FENA) - Meeting of representatives of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HJPC), the Delegation of the European Union to BiH, as well as cantonal / district courts and prosecutor's offices in BiH continued activities to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation and more efficient processing of corruption and organized crime cases, the HJPC BiH said.

The meeting, held today in Sarajevo, was attended by representatives of courts and prosecutor's offices from Sarajevo, Zenica, Banja Luka, Tuzla and Bihać, and discussed ways to reorganize the work of judicial institutions, the quality of indictments, prosecuting corruption and organized crime cases.

As the President of the HJPC BiH Halil Lagumdžija pointed out, the obligation of all judicial institutions is to find modalities of joint cooperation that will not endanger the rights and legitimate legal interests of any person, and which will enable more efficient action, more effective work and adequate response of the judiciary to organized crime and corruption.

Enrico Visentin from the EU Delegation to BiH said that the EU will continue to support judicial institutions in the fight against corruption and organized crime, especially with regard to the introduction of additional economic experts in prosecutors' offices, and that the courts are expected to make full use of the work of these experts and thus contribute to improving the processing of cases of high corruption, organized crime and money laundering.

This is the fourth meeting of representatives of judicial institutions organized by the HJPC BiH with the aim of establishing mechanisms and ways of working that lead to more efficient processing of organized crime and corruption cases in the country.

All meetings were organized within the EU-funded project "Building an Effective and Citizen-friendly Judiciary”, the statement said.
