SARAJEVO, February 4 (FENA) - The bill on financial consolidation and restructuring of public health institutions in FBiH, which was determined by the Government of the Federation of BiH and sent to the parliamentary procedure for urgent adoption, implies allocation of 225 million KM from the FBiH budget in the next three years (since the entry into force of the law) to university-clinical, cantonal and general hospitals.
The funds are intended for the rehabilitation of the hospitals and university-clinical centers, resolving the debts of health institutions founded by the Federation of BiH, one or more cantons together and municipalities, especially where illiquidity is recorded or there are losses. The aim of the bill is to achieve liquidity and solvency, strengthen quality and efficiency in the provision of health services and modernize university-clinical centers, cantonal and general hospitals.
"We do not have time to wait. The pandemic, which has shown the importance of health facilities because they have carried the biggest burden so far, continues, and the number of cases is rising again. That is why it is even more important to pass a law on financial consolidation and restructuring of public health institutions as soon as possible, and to help our hospitals that are unable to cover losses. Accumulated liabilities have a tendency to grow, especially in the pandemic, and urgent action is urgently needed to rehabilitate this situation,” said FBiH Prime Minister Fadil Novalić.
According to the FBiH Government, the regular procedure for the adoption of this law could have incalculable negative effects on the health sector as a whole and the operations of certain public health institutions.
