SARAJEVO, March 17 (FENA) - The statement of the Russian Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Igor Kalabukhov that Russia will react in the event of BiH's membership in NATO, and the mention of Ukraine in this context, represents an unacceptable threat and assault on Bosnia and Herzegovina's sovereignty, stated today the BiH Presidency member Šefik Džaferović.

"Bosnia and Herzegovina is a sovereign country that will make decisions about its own future independently, based on its Constitution and laws, taking into account the will and interests of its citizens, and not the interests of others. Russia cannot appropriate the right to decide on the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina," Džaferović stated in reaction to the statement of the ambassador.

He added that Bosnia and Herzegovina has so far traced its Euro-Atlantic path with the decisions of its institutions in a democratic procedure, including the application for NATO membership.

"And it will stay that way. Bosnia and Herzegovina will not be governed by the Russian Embassy," Džaferović concluded categorically.
