BANJA LUKA, March 18 (FENA) - RS National Assembly (RSNA) adopted today at its 29th special session Conclusions regarding the Information on measures in the field of indirect taxes to mitigate the negative effects of inflation, and proposed to send to the BiH parliamentary procedure Proposal of the Law on Amendments to the Law on VAT, which will define a reduced VAT rate of zero percent on basic foodstuffs and higher than 22 percent on luxury goods and services.

RSNA also proposes that the Draft Law on Excise Duties in BiH be sent to the BiH parliamentary procedure, proposing an amendment to Article 17 of the Law, so that the amount of excise duty on petroleum products is zero KM per liter of petroleum products, with a temporal limit of one month as of April 1, with the possibility of extension depending on price movements in the coming period.

The adopted conclusions were proposed by the deputies from SNSD, SP, DEMOS, US and NPS.

At the same time, the conclusions proposed by the opposition, which insisted on the abolition of excise duties for a period of six months, were rejected, while the ruling coalition proposed the abolition of excise duties on a monthly basis.

According to the adopted conclusions, the zero VAT rate should be applied to basic foodstuffs such as bread, oil, milk and dairy products and baby food, and on the other hand, the VAT rate would be increased from 17 to 22 percent for luxury goods - perfumes, leather clothing and footwear made of luxury materials, vehicles and cosmetics.

Today's special session of the RS National Assembly was held at the request of the Government of that entity, and there was only one item on the agenda - Information on measures in the field of indirect taxes to mitigate the negative effects of inflation.

In the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, more precisely, at the session of the House of Peoples held two days ago in Sarajevo, members of the Serb caucus who are also SNSD members voted against the urgent procedure for the proposed law aimed at lowering fuel prices in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
