BiH had over 234,5 thousand tourists in first three months of 2022

SARAJEVO, May 5 (FENA) - In the period January - March 2022, tourists in Bosnia and Herzegovina made 234,535 visits, which is 61.3 percent more than in the same period last year. They also made 538,806 overnight stays, which is 56.7 percent more than in the same period in 2021. The number of overnight stays of domestic tourists was higher by 10.8 percent, while the number of overnight stays of foreign tourists was higher by 123.5 percent compared to the same period in 2021.

The share of domestic tourists in the total number of overnight stays was 42 percent, while foreign tourists made 58 percent of overnight stays.

In the structure of overnight stays of foreign tourists, most overnight stays were made by tourists from: Croatia (28.4 percent), Serbia (25.8 percent), Slovenia (7.1 percent), Montenegro (4.3 percent), Germany (3.6) percent) and Turkey (3.4 percent), for a total of 72.6 percent. Tourists from other countries accounted for 27.4 percent of overnight stays.

According to the length of stay of foreign tourists in BiH, in the first place are: Kuwaitis with an average stay of 3.6 nights, Chinese with 3.5 nights and Hungarians with 3.1 nights, according to the Agency for Statistics of BiH.

According to the type of accommodation facility, the largest number of overnight stays was realized in hotels and similar accommodations with a share of 94.8 percent.
