SARAJEVO, May 11 (FENA) - Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bisera Turković participated today in Marrakesh in the ministerial meeting of the Global Coalition for the Defeat of ISIL.

The meeting, organized by the United States and Morocco as host countries, was attended by more than 80 foreign ministers and other representatives of countries from around the world.

During the three sessions, the foreign ministers of the member states of the Global Coalition discussed the current situation in Africa, Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan, and Turković also addressed the audience.

She expressed concern over the deteriorating socio-economic situation, the destruction and loss of human lives in Syria and Iraq.

Turkovic added that despite significant leadership losses, ISIL remains a serious threat in the region, and stressed the strengthening and expansion of ISIL in several regions in Africa, which effectively puts the continent at the forefront of the fight against ISIL.

She also referred to the legacy of ISIL, especially in IDP camps and detention facilities in northeastern Syria. In this regard, she said that about 140 citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including women and children, are still in Syria and Iraq, and plans for their repatriation have not yet been made.

She reminded that Bosnia and Herzegovina had prosecuted 33 individuals who were linked to their participation in the war in Syria. She also informed that the Council of Ministers should adopt a document that would define the process of repatriation, reintegration, rehabilitation and resocialization of BiH citizens from the war zones of Syria and Iraq.

In the context of the situation in Afghanistan, Turković emphasized the importance of respecting the rights of all Afghans, especially women, which is a key condition for the country's progress and development, the BiH Foreign Ministry said.
