SARAJEVO, May 25 (FENA) - During a meeting between representatives of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and veterans' organizations in the FBiH, Prime Minister Fadil Novalić said that each country should repay veterans in the most adequate way.

He stated that on the occasion of the presentation of the application of the recently amended veterans' laws, which improved the previous rights of veterans, and new beneficiaries from that population also acquired the right to regular benefits.

“Just as you were ready to defend our homeland in the most difficult moment, so we are always ready to guarantee that we will fulfill our obligations to you,” Novalić told the fighters.

In 2022, he stated, veterans 'benefits were increased and changes to veterans' laws came into force on April 15, and payments began in early May.

“With a set of laws on veteran-disability protection, we have introduced the so-called Swiss formula. This means that your fees will be adjusted each year according to the growth of consumer prices and gross domestic product. The government is thus systematically introducing additional security to the veteran population, so that there is no reduction and 'freezing' of their rights. In addition, we have increased personal and family disability benefits and benefits for the winners of the highest war decorations. The FBiH Government has provided 18.5 million KM to increase benefits to the families of martyrs and fallen fighters and war invalids. KM 12.5 million has been allocated to increase the base by 5 percent this year. And another 5.5 million KM is being spent on war invalids who have someone else's care, about 600 of them,” said the Prime Minister.

FBiH Assistant Minister for Veterans and Disabled Veterans of the Defensive-Liberation War Mirza Terzo also addressed the participants in the meeting.

Presenting the application of a set of changes in the legislation on the rights of the veteran population, he emphasized the commitment of the current government to legally and systematically solve veterans' problems, which was done in a certain way.

According to him, this year's budget of the relevant ministry is 356.7 million KM, of which 346 million is intended for the realization of veterans' demands and rights. Compared to last year and the execution of the then budget, the allocation is 20 million KM higher; Amendments to the law increased the allocation for personal and family disability benefits by 18.5 million, and 1.5 million KM to increase benefits for the winners of the greatest war awards.

The meeting, which presented the application of the amended laws, was attended by Deputy Prime Ministers Vesko Drljača and Jelka Milićević, as well as representatives of numerous associations from the RBiH Army and the HVO.
