SARAJEVO, May 26 (FENA) - BiH Defense Minister Sifet Podžić hosted British Foreign Secretary Elizabeth Truss at the BiH Armed Forces House in Sarajevo. The British delegation also included the British Prime Minister's Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Stuart Peach, the UK Ambassador to BiH Matthew Field, Defense Attaché Colonel Andrew Tait and other associates.
In addition to Minister Podžić, the delegation of the MoD and AF BiH also included Deputy Minister of Policy and Plans Mijo Krešić, Deputy Minister of Resource Management Mirko Okolić, Chief of Joint Staff of the AF BiH Colonel General Senad Mašović, and other associates.
Podžić expressed gratitude to Secretary Truss for the visit and selfless support of the UK Government, both to the defense ministry and the state of BiH. Also, the Minister informed the British delegation about the current situation in the MoD and AF BiH, problems and challenges caused by lack of funds and blockade of state institutions, and possible side effects due to the war in Ukraine.
Foreign Secretary Truss thanked for the warm welcome, emphasizing that the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina lies in sovereignty and self-determination, in strengthening partnerships with NATO and countries like the United Kingdom.
She also stressed the United Kingdom's commitment to peace and stability in the Western Balkans, and future plans for greater economic and security co-operation, despite secessionist and Russian attempts to influence and destabilize the country.
