SARAJEVO, June 1 (FENA) - Bosnia and Herzegovina continues to strengthen the capacity of security agencies in the fight against cybercrime and to improve legislation in this area in line with European Union standards. These are also the goals of the project "EU for the fight against cybercrime", whose results and activities were presented today in Sarajevo.

The EU-funded project with one million euros is being implemented by the Austrian Agency for European Integration and Economic Development in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Austria and the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Croatia.

The implementation of this project began in May 2021 and will continue until the end of this year.

The project has two components. The first relates to strengthening the operational capacity of police units to combat cybercrime, and the second relates to the development of guidelines for a more effective fight against cybercrime.

Emphasis was placed on capacity building at the regional level in both entities and the Brčko District, with the intention of establishing more specialized units to fight cybercrime.

The importance of experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina developing additional knowledge on the organization and methods of work through direct insight into the Member States was emphasized.
