SREBRENICA, July 11 (FENA) - The Secretary-General of the Council of Europe, Marija Pejčinović Burić, said at today's commemoration for the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica that no two wars are the same, and that the causes and consequences of wars vary, but each brings pain and sadness.
"We have gathered here today to pay tribute to the immense suffering of the victims and their families who lost their loved ones and who are searching for those who are still missing," said Pejčinović Burić.
She underlined that "the pain of the victims and their families remains real and tangible, which is why we should remember Srebrenica, which is our pledge for the future."
Pejčinović Burić added that Srebrenica is a scar that is still healing and will never fade completely.
"Instead, it reminds us of the horrors that human beings are ready to commit, but also of our commitment and determination that such atrocities must never happen again," she concluded.
