SARAJEVO, August 1 (FENA) - The Center for Humanitarian Dialogue presented today in Sarajevo the Citzens’ Charter on Responsible Behavior on Social Media for the elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This is the first Charter of Citizens in the Balkans, which aims to improve the quality of behavior of parties, politicians and public institutions on social networks. A randomly selected group of citizens from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina drafted the Charter at the innovative four-day Citizens' Forum.
The charter defines clear standards of responsible social media discourse, calling on all actors to use social media responsibly ahead of the October elections.
Head of the "Citizens' Forum for Responsibility on Social Networks" project, Mark Baskin, said that 50 citizens from all over BiH - Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Mostar, Ljubuški, Brčko, Visoko, Bužim, Prijedor, Zenica - after a four-day discussion, created the Charter of Citizens of BiH for responsible use of social networks, with a focus on the electoral process.
According to him, they managed to articulate the interests and needs of citizens for responsible communication on social networks, without hate speech, without discrimination on any basis.
One of the participants of the Forum, Marko Milinčić, said that during the four days they had time to think, to develop a critical opinion, to talk with experts and they reached a common consensus on the Charter itself, how they want the Internet space to look like.
Forum participant Bojana Naimarević said that at the end of the four-day work, they received a very important document, and that they proved that BiH citizens can work together to achieve very important goals and democratic processes that lead BiH towards Euro-Atlantic integration.
