SARAJEVO, September 2 (FENA) - Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Selmo Cikotić, participated in the United Nations Chiefs of Police Summit (UNCOPS 2022) in New York.

The topic of this year's gathering of ministers and police chiefs was strengthening international peace, security and development.

They discussed the current state of UN peacekeeping missions and the future role of the UN in maintaining peace in the world.

Over the past 22 years, Bosnia and Herzegovina has had notable results in UN peacekeeping missions and has become a country that contributes to strengthening peace and stability in crisis areas.

Thus, BiH, since receiving UN aid, has been sharing the obligations, risks, and benefits of collective security with the member states of the United Nations for the past two decades.

The participants pointed out that there are more and more conflicts and other security challenges in the world with an increasing number of refugees and vulnerable populations, who require adequate international assistance and protection, in which the role of the United Nations is irreplaceable, stated the Ministry of Security of BiH.

Bosnia and Herzegovina will continue to support UN missions and activities in accordance with the available capacities and contribute to the preservation of peace and stability in the world.
