Džaferović: BiH does not recognize separatist referendums in Ukraine

SARAJEVO, September 28 (FENA) - Separatist referendums in several areas of Ukraine, which are currently under Russian military occupation, are illegal from the point of view of international law and Bosnia and Herzegovina does not recognize them, Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Šefik Džaferović, said today.

“Such referendums will never be recognized by Bosnia and Herzegovina because they have no legal foundation, they represent a gross attack on the UN Charter with the aim of violently annexing the territory of a sovereign state, and, in the end, apart from the illegality, the fact that they are held under conditions of military occupation makes these referendums undemocratic," he added.

In accordance with its official position on Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, Džaferović said, and added that Bosnia and Herzegovina will remain part of the absolute majority of the international community, which through the resolution of the UN General Assembly on aggression against Ukraine and other acts confirmed this determination.
