BELGRADE, October 14 (FENA) - Representatives of the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) of Bosnia and Herzegovina presented the results of the previous work on improving transparency and establishing a system of more proactive communication between judicial institutions and the media at the regional conference "Communicating with the judiciary and the safety of journalists" in Belgrade.

The participants of the conference from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and North Macedonia praised this, considering that the HJPC has developed a document that will offer part of the solution to current problems related to the quality of communication between the media and the judiciary.

“With the support of the Swedish judicial administration and the Kingdom of Sweden, the HJPC of Bosnia and Herzegovina has developed a document that will significantly contribute to improving the communication of judicial institutions with the media and the public. One of strategic goals of the HJPC of BiH is to strengthen transparency, and by establishing a unique way of communication for all courts in BiH through the application of the document "Communication with the media and the use of communication tools", citizens will be continuously and timely informed,” said the communications advisor at the Secretariat of the HJPC BiH Amela Sačić Bajramović.

As she recalled in her presentation, numerous previous analyses have shown that the media want timely information from judicial institutions that are adapted to the language of citizens and accessible to citizens.

The document will be presented and distributed to all courts in BiH in November.

The conference gathered 70 representatives of the media and judicial community from Serbia, North Macedonia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina as part of the project "Strengthening media freedom in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and North Macedonia", which is implemented by the Netherlands Helsinki Committee and Free Press Unlimited from the Netherlands in cooperation with partners from the countries of the region.
