SARAJEVO, January 8 (FENA) - In the past few days, the Chinese government has optimized and adapted policies related to epidemic prevention. COVID-19 was classified as a category B infectious disease, but has managed it under Category A protocols and preventive measures. Measures for category B infectious diseases are now in force. This means that the measures to control the number of international passenger flights have been abolished and the arrangements for the arrival of foreign citizens in China have been further optimized, such as the continuation of work and production, business, studying abroad, family visits and the gatherings, said China's Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ji Ping.

At the same time, as he states, the conditions for outbound tourism for Chinese citizens will be gradually provided - in an orderly manner - which refers to the entry and exit of passengers by land and water based on a comprehensive assessment. Currently, the focus of the Chinese government is shifting from "stopping infection" to "protecting health and preventing severe cases".

“The adjustment of China's policy towards COVID-19 is scientifically based, timely and necessary. Optimizing and improving the prevention and control policy is by no means giving up all measures, but focusing on strengthening services and protection, with special attention focused on vaccination of people at high risk of serious and major diseases and timely treatment after infection. All measures are in place to minimize the number of serious illnesses and deaths,” the Ambassador points out.

He stated that the new policy helps more normal production, guarantees a better life and quality fulfillment of medical and health needs, and helps to reduce the impact of the epidemic on economic and social development. Optimizing measures to prevent and control the epidemic significantly boosted the confidence of investors and consumers, accelerated the continuation of work and production, as well as the recovery of business and the market.

Constantly putting the nation and people's lives first is the consistent "Chinese plan" in the fight against the epidemic. Given that the epidemic has entered the phase of normalized prevention and control, China insists on optimizing scientifically based and precise prevention and control measures in accordance with the time and situation. According to the Ambassador, China effectively responded to the impact of five waves of the global epidemic and successfully avoided the spread of the epidemic in China, especially those with relatively strong pathogenicity, such as the original strain and the delta variant.

“China not only protected the lives and health of its people, but also insisted on contributing to the global fight against the epidemic. China has taken the lead in proposing that vaccines be an international public good and has provided more than 2.2 billion doses of vaccine to more than 120 countries and international organizations. China has delivered large quantities of anti-epidemic materials to more than 150 countries, cooperating with 15 international organizations and providing financial and material assistance to the World Health Organization (WHO),” he underlined.

Ambassador Ji Ping also stated that China shares relevant information and data with the international community in an open and transparent manner, and has held more than 60 technical exchanges with the WHO. Last week, he added, China sent experts to attend a WHO technical advisory group meeting on the evolution of the coronavirus. The Chinese experts gave a comprehensive introduction to the recent epidemic situation and mutated strains in China, focusing on the answer to the technical problems faced by all parties, the Ambassador pointed out.

Today, he says, the epidemic situation in China is under control. The streets, malls and restaurants in Beijing, Shanghai and other cities are full of people. With the arrival of the annual Chinese traditional "Spring Festival", the way of life as we knew it is slowly returning. Despite this, the Chinese government continues to closely monitor the mutation of the virus in an extremely serious and responsible manner, with timely release of information about the outbreak and coordinated work with the international community to address the challenges of the outbreak.
