SARAJEVO, February 5 (FENA) - Early elections for the mayors of Bihać, Tuzla, Srebrenik and Zvornik and the mayors of the municipalities of Bratunac and Vogošća are taking place today.

A total of 13 political entities are participating in the elections, namely 5 political parties, one coalition and 7 independent candidates. A total of 18 candidates were certified. Candidate lists are published in official gazettes and on the website of the Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In many of these municipalities, the reason for holding early elections is that the mayor's or municipal mayor's positions would remain formally vacant since the previous officials in those positions won mandates in other government bodies in last year's October General Elections in BiH.

The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina made the decision to call and hold these early elections in six cities and municipalities on December 7 last year.
