SARAJEVO, March 21 (FENA) - Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, spoke with the UN Registrar of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals Abubacarr M. Tambadou. Bećirović pointed out that BiH supports the work and maintains full cooperation with the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT), which took over the functions of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY).
Tambadou informed Bećirović about the closing of the IRMCT office in BiH after the Stanišić and Simatović case is over, stressing that support and cooperation in BiH will continue, especially with representatives of the judiciary and in terms of witness and victim protection.
Bećirović informed the UN Registrar of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals that he sent a letter to the UN Secretary-General, the President of the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals and the President of the UN General Assembly, in which he requested that the archives of the International Criminal Court for the former Yugoslavia will be stored in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He expressed his determination that historical circumstances dictate the need for the Court's archival material to be stored in Bosnia and Herzegovina because it would be kept and used according to the highest standards in full cooperation with the relevant international bodies.
The interlocutors strongly condemned the denial of genocide and committed war crimes, as well as the glorification of persons sentenced for genocide and war crimes, and emphasized the need to ensure respect for the judgments of international and domestic courts, BiH Presidency announced.
