SARAJEVO, March 21 (FENA) - An exhibition of the works of the French photographer Frédéric de La Moore, which was created during his journey through Europe on a bicycle, was opened today at the Gazi Husrev Bey's Khaniqah, organized by the French Institute in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as part of the Francophonie Day 2023.
The exhibition follows his two crossings of Europe by bicycle and presents 60 faces of Europe, from the Baltic to the Balkans. Frederic de La Mur worked as a photographer in the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs for almost 40 years and traveled the world, documenting its changes, liberations, unifications, and returns to peace.
Ambassador of France in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christine Toudic, said that Frederic de La Mur traveled all over the world because it is in his genes, underlining his need to travel and photograph a lot.
“When he retired, he decided not to travel by plane, but to go on his bicycle,” said Toudic.
She pointed out that Frederic de La Mur recorded some important historical moments in his photographs.
Frederic de La Mur points out that he was lucky enough to travel to 139 countries while working in the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As he stated, he had the opportunity to closely monitor major negotiations at the world level, including negotiations relating to the Dayton Agreement.
Frederic de La Mur published four books, which, among other things, deal with everyday life in Japan, the main trading ports of Europe and international relations.
