SARAJEVO, March 26 (FENA) - The BiH Presidency member Denis Bećirović strongly condemned the attack on Bosniak returnees in the Omeragići settlement in the Višegrad municipality and called on the authorities of the BiH entity of RS to urgently investigate, locate, process and punish the perpetrators.

"I strongly condemn the cowardly act of attack on the returnees Ajša and Fadil Memišević, who were physically attacked and beaten by several people in the returnee settlement Omeragići in the municipality of Višegrad. The authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina's entity of RS and the municipality of Višegrad must react urgently, find and detain the perpetrators of this heinous attack committed at the beginning of the month of Ramadan," said Bećirović.

He called on the competent authorities to take all legal measures as soon as possible and inform the public about the motives of the attack on the Memišević family. With quick and effective police action and sanctions, he added, it is necessary to restore the feeling of security among the returnees, who are daily exposed to systemic discrimination and denial of basic human rights.

"Bosniak returnees, like all people in Bosnia and Herzegovina, must enjoy freedom, security and basic human rights. It is the duty of the competent authorities to ensure this for them, and of the political officials in the RS to avoid rhetoric and moves that undermine security and stability," said Bećirović.

Fadil and Ajša Memišević, returnees from the village of Omeragići near Višegrad, were brutally beaten by one or more unknown perpetrators. According to the first information, it happened three nights ago, and the elderly couple (in their late 80s) was found by a group of Bosniak returnees who come to Višegrad on weekends.
