BIJELJINA, April 2 (FENA) - The prayer for the souls of civilians brutally killed in April 1992 was recited today at the martyr's cemetery Lipić - Selimovići in Bijeljina.

Organized by the Majlis of the Islamic Community of Bijeljina, the tawhid was first recited at the Sultan Sulejman's Atik Mosque in the center of Bijeljina, and then the Fatiha was recited for the victims of the Serb aggression in April 1992.

No one has ever been held accountable for the murder of Bijeljina civilians.

Bijeljina was a general rehearsal of the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina, and on March 31, 1992, members of the Serbian Volunteer Guard under the command of Željko Ražnatović - Arkan entered the city.

The road from the Pavlović Bridge that they used to cross in 1992 is still officially called the Street of the Serbian Volunteer Guard.

The crimes of members of the Serbian Volunteer Guard were immortalized by the American photojournalist Ron Haviv, and the images of brutal murders of Bijeljina's civilians we seen around the world.

Today, the Fatiha was recited for all the victims of that period, as well as the victims of the ethnic cleansing that was systematically carried out from 1992 to 1995.

In that period, 35,000 Bosniaks were expelled from Bijeljina and Janja towards Tuzla. Also, no one was ever held accountable for the ethnic cleansing of the Bosniaks of Semberija.

On the contrary, April 4 is officially celebrated as Liberation Day in Bijeljina, and for 31 years the Bosniaks of Bijeljina persistently asked the city officials from whom the city was liberated, but they have never received an answer.
