SARAJEVO, April 18 (FENA) - Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina Staša Košarac met with the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China Ji Ping in Sarajevo today and they discussed current political issues and the improvement of economic cooperation.
The interlocutors emphasized that the bilateral relations between BiH and China are good and without open issues, and confirmed their commitment to strengthening friendly ties, as well as the realization of economic, infrastructure and energy projects of mutual interest.
The officials also concluded that the activities of the Joint Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation between BiH and China should be intensified and that in the upcoming period, they will define the date for holding the meetings of this Commission.
The Chinese side pointed to good and cooperative relations with the institutions of Republika Srpska and President Milorad Dodik and emphasized that the results of such policy are visible. They expressed the hope that, after the formation of the government, the new government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina will take a more productive position compared to the previous one when it comes to cooperation with China.
He pointed out the importance of preserving the existing and opening new markets for the placement of domestic products, which will contribute to the stabilization and development of the business of export-oriented entrepreneurs from BiH.
As he stated, EU support for the domestic economy is often conditioned by political conditions, which is a bad practice and a negative message for the economic sector in BiH.
He expressed his gratitude to Chinese officials for their balanced approach and principled support for the consistent implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement.
“Unlike China, which respects the internal and international legal framework, the EU often has double standards. One of the most striking examples of the inconsistency of the EU's policy is reflected in the fact that the OHR has not yet been closed in BiH and that foreign judges are still present in the Constitutional Court of BiH, even though Europe has said that this will not be the case when this country receives candidate status,” Minister Košarac reminded.
