SARAJEVO, May 9 (FENA) - Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denis Bećirović, said that anti-fascism is not an ideological category, but that it is an achievement of civilization and that it should be accepted as such.
He said this after laying flowers and paying respect at the Eternal Fire Memorial on the occasion of May 9 - Victory Day over Fascism, Europe Day and Golden Lilies Day, organized by the Assembly and Government of the Sarajevo Canton.
“Perhaps in these times it is very important to affirm anti-fascism as a humanistic and civilizational value because being an anti-fascist means being a civilized person, fighting for democracy, human rights and civil liberties of all people,” he said.
Bećirović pointed out that anti-fascism also has an integrating factor in Bosnia and Herzegovina and it is very important because of this dimension.
He also warned about the emergence of neo-fascism on a global scale and emphasized the importance of people with a democratic orientation to understand this danger.
He added that in the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, he proposed several times the adoption of a law to ban fascist and neo-fascist organizations and their symbols.
Prime Minister of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nermin Nikšić, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Peoples of the BiHPA Kemal Ademović, the Vice President of the Federation Igor Stojanović, the Prime Minister of the Sarajevo Canton Nihad Uk and many other representatives of the political life of BiH and anti-fascist associations laid flowers and paid respect today on the occasion of May 9 – Victory Day over Fascism, the Day of Europe and the Day of Golden Lilies.
