SARAJEVO, May 11 (FENA) - Head of the EU Delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and EU Special Representative, Johann Sattler, together with the ambassadors and heads of missions of the EU member states in Bosnia and Herzegovina, visited Jajce today, as part of the celebration of Europe Day. During the visit, the ambassadors met with local officials, civil society activists, entrepreneurs, young people and athletes.

He said that Jajce brings together the best of what this country has to offer. This was once the capital of the Bosnian kingdom, this is the place of kings and rebels, confluence of different cultures and beautiful nature.

"We want to support Jajce’s efforts in being included in the UNESCO’s world heritage list, it has the potential and deserves to be included," Sattler said.

He also pointed out that we are celebrating Europe Day, devoted to celebrating the idea of Europe, unification of the continent. For the first time this year we celebrate Europe Day with BiH having made a good step forward, having received the candidate status for the EU membership.

"Being here, and starting the tour with the AVNOJ Museum, noting the struggle against fascism, which is basically also the foundation for the EU on the rubbles of the WWII with 70 million people killed, this comes together - fight against fascism, fight against hateful ideologies is not over. We need to keep fighting that fight and as the EU we are doing our part, especially now in the context of the Ukrainian invasion," said the Head of the EU delegation in BiH.

Ambassador Sattler stressed that today, and throughout Europe Day, we are exploring the beauties of this country, from Sarajevo to the rest of the country we are traveling and it is a pleasure to be in Central Bosnia Canton and in Jajce and we thank you for your hospitality.

Mayor of the Municipality of Jajce, Emir Hozan, expressed appreciation to Ambassador Sattler and all other ambassadors of EU member states in Bosnia and Herzegovina for choosing Jajce this year to mark part of the program of the celebration of that important date here.

"Bosnia and Herzegovina certainly deserves to be part of the European family, I am sure that we are an inseparable part of Europe and we value European heritage. I believe that, in the coming period, we will witness opportunities that will bring us closer to the European community, and everything that exists in Bosnia and Herzegovina are integral parts of European values - especially anti-fascism," emphasized Hozan, the EU Delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.
