SARAJEVO, June 7 (FENA) - The Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nenad Nešić, spoke today about the improvement of cooperation in the field of security and the fulfillment of conditions on the path to European integration, with the Minister of Internal Affairs of North Macedonia, Oliver Spasovski, who is on a two-day official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

After the meeting, Nešić stated that two goals have been identified for the two countries and two ministries, namely membership in the European Union and for the security departments to be the driving forces of that integration.

"We are at the head of two ministries that carry a huge responsibility for the security and stability of the region, and thus of Europe collectively, bearing in mind our geographical location. After EUROPOL and the establishment of full cooperation, we have given ourselves a task for the next step, which is FRONTEX (European Border and Coast Guard Agency)," said Nešić.

He stated that North Macedonia has successfully completed that work and that Bosnia and Herzegovina needs help in this direction.

"We have an internal and external political initiative to reach an agreement on this important issue, and Minister Spasovski is certainly one of the most important addresses when it comes to experiences, and the negotiation process itself. North Macedonia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the whole of Europe, must act unitedly to prevent criminals from profiting from people's problems. In this sense, North Macedonia's success with FRONTEX and that very idea for us in the Western Balkans carries the message that we are part of a unique European space," Nešić pointed out.

Minister Spasovski also emphasized the exceptional cooperation between the two ministries and the two states.

"We will discuss this today at our bilateral meetings. We are working on signing several contracts between our two ministries, which primarily relate to better cooperation in the field of forensics, expertise and joint training. We will share our experiences in relation to the negotiation of FRONTEX. All that we do together, these meetings of ours, send a strong message that above all we are all committed together to the betterment of our region, to better cooperation in the field of security and the fight against organized crime, and corruption, all with the aim of providing the best possible security level and life for our citizens," said Spasovski.

Tomorrow, Ministers Nešić and Spasovski will participate in the Conference on the Improvement of the Skopje Declaration on Sustainable Migration Management in the Western Balkans on Mount Jahorina.
