SARAJEVO, June 29 (FENA) - The central Eid ceremony of the Riyasat of the Islamic Community in BiH was held yesterday at the Gazi Husrev-bey Mosque in Sarajevo, where Raisu-l-ulama Husein-ef. Kavazović delivered the Eid sermon and led the prayer.
"In our time, we all have to sacrifice something, like Ibrahim, peace be upon him, to establish the values on which we will base our life and the life of our community. The divisions and isolation we are witnessing now will not save us. They only increase the selfishness that further opens the chasms of fear and intolerance among us. We have to get out of the vicious circle of our delusions that others are better than ourselves," said Raisu-l-ulama Kavazović.
Raisu-l-ulama Husein-ef. Kavazović stated in the sermon that in the chosen time of Kurban Bayram, we are gathered together in the glorification of the Lord on the road that leads to the shelter of the Kaaba, the Holy Temple of Allah.
He recalled the path of honesty and obedience of Ibrahim, peace be upon him, whose life path was the path of new spiritual and ethical values on which the community of tawhid, faith in one God, was founded.
He emphasized that Ibrahim, peace is upon him, had to "sacrifice his own family, leave behind his family, house, and relatives, to found a great family of people to which we all refer today, both Muslims, Christians, and Jews".
"The heart is the source of inner strength, and faith is the inspiration that gives strength to achieve even what seems impossible at first. Good and evil, truth and lies, the right path from the wrong one are separated in faith. Ibrahim a.s., with the power of faith, changed himself, and with him the course of human history. Let us learn from his life path to change ourselves, so that we do not remain blind and so that we do not have to sacrifice our children and drive them away from us. It is not possible to bring our ship into a calm harbor on a rough sea without joint effort, without giving to others and accepting from others, without establishing justice that will ensure equality and respect for everyone, especially for the weakest among us," said Rais.
Raisu-l-ulama Husein-ef. Kavazović said that God's way cannot be against people because violence and hostility are the opposite.
"To build a better world, we need to undertake our journey to get to know each other, to share common memories, fears, and experiences. Only in this way will we be able to build a common house, like the one built by Ibrahim a.s. in Makkah, and save it from our greed. We need to live together in it, to keep our memories, to build our future from it, and for it to provide us with security," said Raisu-l-ulama.
He also pointed out that attention should be drawn "to our children, who are most often the victims of our carelessness and neglect of their upbringing".
At the end of the sermon, the Raisu-l-ulama extended congratulations on the occasion of Kurban Bayram to all the Muslim faithful in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, and the diaspora.
"No matter where you live, live in peace and friendship with your relatives, neighbors, and friends. Don't let differences keep you from your primary need to be human. I invite everyone to work together to raise our families, raise our children and build our community. Let's ask the Lord to lighten our burdens in this world, connect our hearts and be merciful to us on the Day of Judgment. Eid Mubarek Olsun," said Raisu-l-ulama Kavazović.
