SARAJEVO, July 27 (FENA) - A delegation of the Federation of Independent Mineworkers' Union of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina spoke today with representatives of the Government of the Federation of BiH about the solution to the crisis in the Zenica Coal Mine.
On Tuesday, Zenica miners suspended production due to unpaid wages for June and a hot meal allowance for May. The miners have been in the "Raspotočje" pit since Tuesday, where they will remain until the situation is resolved.
The President of the Independent Union of Mineworkers of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sinan Husić, said that the FBiH Government had been presented with the Agreement signed by the Union and the director of the RMU Zenica on July 3, 2023, regarding the methodology of salary payment for May and June.
"The FBiH Government will immediately issue an order to the management of Elektroprivreda BiH to fully implement the Agreement. Additionally, we requested that the management of Elektropriveda BiH present the final position regarding the order by the end of the day at the latest, because based on that position, we will start the Union's activities in the coming days. If Elektroprivreda BiH ignores the order of the FBiH Government, the miners will remain in the pit," said Husić.
The President of the Independent Trade Union of Dependent Societies of Zenica Cola Mines Elvedin Avdić is satisfied with the outcome of the meeting because the miners got what they came to the FBiH Government for, but, as he said, he is not satisfied with the whole situation in which the miners found themselves.
