Remembering eight citizens of Sarajevo killed in a massacre in Isevića sokak

SARAJEVO, January 15 (FENA) - A mortar shell fired from the military position of the aggressor against Bosnia and Herzegovina, 25 years ago, killed eight citizens of Sarajevo in Isevića sokak street while waiting in line for water. Nineteen of their fellow citizens were also severely wounded.

Families and friends, delegations of the Sarajevo Canton, the City of Sarajevo, the Municipality of Stari Grad, the Union of Civil War Victims of the SC, the Association of Parents of the Murdered Children of the Besieged Sarajevo 1992-1995, laid flowers today at the site of the massacre.

Minister of Economy of the SC Muharem Šabić addressed the present and emphasized that we must never forget the innocent victims, because forgetting and oblivion is a sin and condoning to the crime.

“That is why we are here, and we will be in the years to come, to commemorate this and many other massacres of innocent civilians so that they never repeat again. We are here for our fellow citizens but also for our children, we will not and must not forget the monstrous crimes, this evil that a normal person cannot understand,” said je Šabić.

Ahmet Ahmetspahić, Jasmina Kajanija, Asim Lačević, Azra Lačević, Jasna Šarić, Bajro Pinjo and two children – thirteen-year-old Aferdita Sadikaj and seventeen-year-old Senad Lagumdžija were killed in the massacre.
