Srebrenica mothers ask that Croatia gets more involved in search for the missing

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, January 17 (FENA) - President of the Association of Mothers of Srebrenica and Žepa Enclaves Munira Subašić said that they asked at the meeting with President of the Republic of Croatia Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, for Croatia to get more involved in the search for missing persons and in the issue of war criminals who fled to Croatia.

After the meeting with Croatian President who is on an official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Subašić announced that a mosque and a chapel will be built in Potočari because, as she pointed out, Muslims, Catholics, and Roma were killed in Srebrenica in 1995.

“We are building it for the mothers who are our members, and also because of the people of the Catholic faith who come to Potočari, they want to come there, light candles and pay tribute to the victims,” said Subašić.

She emphasized that Grabar-Kitarović promised to help the Mothers of Srebrenica in the organization of the conference, which should be attended by students of criminal law and law faculties from the countries of the former Yugoslavia.

After the meeting, Subašić said that the mothers are not angry with the Croatian president and to them, she will remain to the “the queen of the Balkans".

“She is the only woman in the Balkans who is the president of a state. Regardless of everything, to us, she will remain the queen of the Balkans. Our reaction was a warning that all that she said offended us, but today we talked. She did not offend the mothers directly. We resented her, but we did not get angry with her," Subašić stressed.

Subašić said they are grateful to the Croatian Presidents for the visit to Potočari in 2015 and the support she had given to them at that time.
