SARAJEVO, January 19 (FENA) – Sarajevo’s Centar Municipality, headed by Mayor Nedžad Ajnadzić, has joined 20 local communities from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina in the project of Regional Program on Local Democracy in the Western Balkans (ReLOaD).
The implementation of this project, funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), was launched on December 18 last year.
The goal of the ReLOaD project is to strengthen partnerships between local authorities and civil society by expanding a successful model of transparent funding from municipal budgets for civil society organizations' projects aimed at increasing citizen participation in decision-making processes and improving the level of service delivery in local communities.
In this regard, Mayor Nedžad Ajnadžić held today a meeting attended by UNDP representatives for Bosnia and Herzegovina Sanja Bokun, Selma Osmanagić-Agović and Damir Žarak.
The participants of the meeting also discussed future activities on the implementation of the project.
“This new model, by which the Centar Municipality will work as well, has proven to be a good practice and aims to improve financial mechanisms through which municipalities financed by NGO projects will implement priority activities for local development, in cooperation with civil society organizations,” said Mr. Ajnadžić.
The Centar Municipality has planned funds in this year's budget, which will be allocated according to the new LOD model, reads the statement from Mr. Ajnadžić’s office.
