SARAJEVO, January 23 (FENA) - Veterinary Office of BiH issued a press release today, in which it rejects claims of certain media outlets on export of infected meat to Turkey, stressing that export of meat to this country is done without any obstructions.
According to standard procedure of cooperation with the Republic of Turkey, in case of any questionable shipment BiH is informed, that is, the Veterinary Office of BiH, like it was done with the questionable shipment in August 2017.
It is stated that after inspection of export facilities of "Bajra" from Travnik, used by the exporter of meat to Turkey, it was determined that the facility fulfills all the necessary conditions and presence of E. coli bacteria was not detected.
Samples were taken in presence of official veterinarians of the Veterinary Office of BiH and official veterinarians from the Republic of Turkey and after the determined inspection the facility got an approval for meat delivery.
"It is important to note that veterinary inspectors from the Republic of Turkey attend every meat delivery from BiH to Turkey, as well as competent cantonal veterinary inspectors from BiH," Veterinary Office of BiH stated.
They also noted that every meat shipment which is determined to be faulty during inspection, in this case at the Turkish border, is not returned to the European Union, but it is destroyed in territory of Turkey, in accordance with clearly determined regulations.
"That was done on this occasion, and those are common procedures which are applied and implemented in these cases," Veterinary Office of BiH stated.
