BiH joins a community of countries dedicated to preserving the fish fund

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, January 26 (FENA) - Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mirko Šarović signed today, in the presence of the Deputy Head of the Delegation of the European Union to BiH Khaldoun Sinno, the Maltese MedFish4Ever Ministerial Declaration on the Future of Fisheries in the Mediterranean, making Bosnia and Herzegovina a part of a community of countries that are strongly committed to preserving the fish stock and protecting the environment.

The declaration, which, under the incentive of the European Commission, was adopted last year in Malta and signed by the relevant ministers from the Mediterranean countries and the European Commissioner for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, is an important step in ensuring a sustainable future for the Mediterranean Fish Fund and protecting the ecological and economic resources in the region.

“This is a strong political commitment to ensure effective action at the national and regional level, and with its adoption, Bosnia and Herzegovina has shown readiness and interest in the protection and sustainable management of aquaculture and fisheries.

BiH has a great potential, but also a great interest in the development of fish and aquaculture production, and this declaration will help in the sustainable development of this branch of economy,” said Šarović, announced the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH.
