DAVOS/SARAJEVO, January 26 (FENA) - Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers Denis Zvizdić participated today in a special session “Accelerating the Long-term Development of the Western Balkans” in the framework of the annual World Economic Forum meeting in Davos.
The session was opened by the president and member of the Management Committee of the World Economic Forum Børge Brende, who on this occasion said that partnership and cooperation were a sure way to strengthen bilateral, economic and commercial relations.
A special emphasis at the session was placed on regional cooperation, economic development and strengthening of stability and security. The participants said that in the light of diversity within the European Union, the countries of the Western Balkans could improve their cooperation to ensure the long-term security and stability of the region.
During his speech, Mr. Zvizdić said that the most important foreign policy goal for Bosnia and Herzegovina was membership in the European Union and that work was being done on the continuous fulfillment of conditions for obtaining candidate status.
The chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers said that the Western Balkans region faced many challenges and that today's session was a chance to express determination to speed up the process of bringing the region back to where it belongs, to the family of European nations.
Mr. Zvizdić stressed that this must be the main goal and that the leaders of the countries have the responsibility to keep the region on the European path.
In addition to Mr. Zvizdić, the session was attended by Bulgaria's Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, UN Secretary-General Jeffrey D. Feltman, EU Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, Montenegrin Prime Minister Duško Marković, Prime Minister of the Republic of Macedonia Zoran Zaev, Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenković, Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabić, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and President of Kosovo Hashim Thaçi, stated the BiH CoM.
