SARAJEVO, January 28 (FENA) – First test rides of gondolas of 'Trebević Cable Car', which will officially start operating on April 6, on the Sarajevo City Day, started yesterday morning from the arrival station at locality of Vidikovac and will continue for the next two months.
Solemn act was attended by Mayor of Sarajevo Abdulah Skaka, who emphasized he is pleased with the fact that one of the symbols of Sarajevo will be renewed after 25 years and citizens of Sarajevo and its guests will be able to use it again.
“I am extremely happy to attend today’s solemn act of test ride of Trebević Cable Car,” Skaka told FENA, convinced that all necessary conditions will be fulfilled by April 6 so the cable car can officially start operating on the Sarajevo Day.
He emphasized he observes project of restoration of Sarajevo cable car from two aspects. First one is of sentimental nature, that is, emotional connection of Sarejevans with this symbol of Sarajevo, and second one is tourist dimension of this project, which significantly completes and enriches tourist offer of the capital city of BiH.
According to the project, the cable car will be able to take in 1200 passengers per hour. Instead of 12 minutes, which was the case before, the new cable car will climb to Trebević in less than eight minutes.
Trebević cable car started operating in the capital city of BiH in 1959. It connected Bistrik on 583 meters of altitude with Vidikovac, which is on 1.160 meters on slopes of Mt. Trebević.
