EU Info Center - Youth in BiH choose better job prospects over what they like

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, January 30 (FENA) - Young people in Bosnia and Herzegovina are increasingly opting for a profession and a school with which they can find a job more easily instead of the one they really love, the EU Info Center in Sarajevo stated and announced for tomorrow a visit of the young people from several cities who participated in the Motivational Days, a manifestation that this center initiated on this occasion.

Ambassador Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to BiH and EU Special Representative in BiH, will on this occasion award a prize to young authors of the best motivational speeches.

Over the past two months, during the Motivational Days, more than 220 primary and secondary school students from Bijeljina, Brčko, Ugljevik, Lopare, Mrkonjić-Grad, Srbac, Priboj, Suvo Polje, Banja Luka, Blagaj, Mostar, Bijelo Polje and Sarajevo were involved in professional orientation tests. The students also presented their motivational speeches, i.e. prospects for their future professions and employment after graduation.

The Motivational Days also included lectures on the status of certain occupations chosen by the students in the labor market in BiH as well as in the European Union. Issues related to the need to harmonize the labor market and education system in BiH were also touched upon.
