SARAJEVO, February 1 (FENA) - Representatives of young people from both entities and Brčko District, today at a workshop in Sarajevo, organized by the Central Election Commission of BiH, pointed out to the very low turnout of young people in the elections.

“Most of them vote for those candidates or parties chosen by their parents or they give their vote to whoever offers them some money in return,” stated the participants from the youth workshop "Increasing the participation of the youth in the electoral process".

“The data from the 2016 Local Elections have shown that the percentage of young people under the age of 30 in the electoral register is about 18 percent, and only 53 percent of them take to the polls. This is not satisfactory my any means,” said CEC BiH President Irena Hadžiabdić.

Representatives of young people and the institutions in charge of the electoral process today marked the World Election Day, which falls on the first Thursday in February.
