SARAJEVO, February 1 (FENA) - Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mirko Šarović today met with Swedish Ambassador to BiH Anders Hagelberg and the two officials stressed that Sweden will invest 16 million euros in donor funds in development projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The focus is on projects in the field of agriculture and economy, development of small and medium enterprises, and environment.
The two officials emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina is the third most polluted country in Europe, and that pollution is one of the biggest problems that will be in the focus in the coming period.
Ambassador Hagelberg said that about 9,000 people die each year in Bosnia and Herzegovina due to illnesses connected to air pollution, and in Sweden this number is low as 40, which say a lot about the seriousness of the situation and the need for urgent action through the already initiated projects.
Both sides expressed willingness to continue cooperation on the long-term project of the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, which will strengthen capacities for air quality assessment, its monitoring and management, in cooperation with departmental ministries and institutions.
Hagelberg also announced investments and engagement in other important projects, especially in the field of agriculture and economy, in order to provide comprehensive support to the EU integration process of Bosnia and Herzegovina, stated the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH.
