SARAJEVO, February 5 (FENA) - Minister of Transport and Communications of BiH Ismir Jusko, confirmed today that a Turkish delegation is arriving to BiH to discuss the construction of the Sarajevo-Belgrade motorway.
An official meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, 6 February.
“At the meeting in Istanbul, two routes have been identified, one via Tuzla, the other one via Višegrad. Experts have pointed out that Tuzla suffers the most traffic congestion, 22,000 vehicles on a daily basis. I pointed out that Tuzla is a priority that must be resolved, on the other hand - it is a strong industrial zone, with one million inhabitants, and when you have such an investor, it is a great opportunity for us,” said Jusko.
He also added that East Bosnia should not remain isolated in terms of transport linkage.
“I heard that there are not enough vehicles on a daily basis and that this section through East Bosnia would not be profitable. Of course that it cannot be when we do not have an infrastructure? When you build a high-quality motorway, the capacities will increase,” said Minister Jusko.
He pointed out that this is not just the job for the state ministry, but that the entity ministries will also play a role.
So far, nobody has come up with information about how long the construction of the Sarajevo-Belgrade motorway would take, and Jusko did not want to make prognosis until they get concrete data from the experts.
“We need to accept a lent hand from the investor, since we have never had this kind of offer. Citizens will see benefits from this project,” Minister Jusko told TV N1.
