MOSTAR, Feb 5 (FENA) – By the launch of the lines for Dusseldorf and Stuttgart and the inauguration of a regular line for Zagreb, this year Mostar Airport plans to double the number of passengers, while negotiations on lines for Belgrade and Istanbul continues.
General Manager of Mostar Airport, Marin Raspudic, told Fena that interest in flights to German cities that Eurowings will start on May 16 was remarkable. He called on citizens to use these lines, pointing out that connections from Dusseldorf and Stuttgart to all cities throughout the world are availeble.
"As for the prices, the line is extremely favorable and we believe that it will be recognized by the businessmen of the City of Mostar, the diaspora, tourists, and all the citizens of Herzegovina - Raspudic said .
He underlined that the procedure for launching a regular line for Zagreb was completed, adding that the necessary funds were provided and that the line should be inaugurated in May.
"We will officially announce that after final talks with Croatia Airlines, but we can say that the line for Zagreb will start in May," said Raspudic.
Raspudic also said that negotiations were underway for the launch of lines for Belgrade and Istanbul, but it had not been agreed yet.
Responding to the question whether the Mostar Airport can be an alternative to the Sarajevo Airport, especially in the winter months, he said that the Mostar Airport was in the vicinity of better and stronger airports (Sarajevo, Split and Dubrovnik), underlying that airlines decide on it.
"By the launch of the Eurowing and Croatia Airlines services, we will certainly improve our quality and we can expect airlines to assign to us - said Raspudic.
He underlined that it should be worked n improvement, adding that without investing, no development of the Airport can be expected.
"This year, we have good cooperation with the City, the Canton, and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and we hope that everybody will meet their part of the obligation and that we will successfully respond to all tasks - Raspudic asserted.
Within the circle of the Airport, construction of facilities for the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH and the Border Police of BiH is underway, which will, as he said, provide for the Mostar Airport to be an adequate international transit.
- We believe that the openness of the Airport will be heard all over Europe and that this year will be the initial capsule for the development of the Mostar Airport - Raspudic concluded.
