RADOVANOVIC: ARMS WERE EXPORTED IN LINE WITH THE LAW |
|
|
BANJA LUKA, May 11 (FENA) – BiH Defense Minister Nikola Radovanovic regarded on Thursday as incorrect the claims of “Amnesty International” that the affairs of exporting arms from BiH to Iraq during 2004 and 2005 were non-transparent and secret, declaring that everything was done in line with the law and the relevant regulations. Radovanovic also regarded as incorrect the claims stated in the report of “Amnesty International” that a part of the arms ended up on the wrong hands, specifying that the arms deliveries ended in the hands of the new Government of Iraq and the security structures. He said that 200.000 pieces of arms and 20 million rounds were exported from BiH and noted that the exports were conducted on U.S. territory, given that the arms were delivered to Iraq partially via the companies with residence in the United States. The political advisor in the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo, Raffi Gregorian, said that every movement or transfer of military equipment in BiH is regulated by EUFOR, noting that there is a surplus of weapons in BiH and that every legal programme for moving the arms outside BiH should be welcomed.
