Lukač: Americans, not Russians, will train special unit of RS MIA

FENA Dušica Stanojević

BANJA LUKA, Feb 14 (FENA) - Republika Srpska Interior Minister Dragan Lukač today said it was not true that some of the Russian special forces, operatives or anyone from that country would participate in the training of the RS Special Police Unit, or any other members of the RS MIA.

He confirmed that, as in previous years, training with RS special units will be done by their colleagues from the US, as well as European police.

At a press conference in Banja Luka, Mr. Lukač said that the RS MIA had procured weapons, 2,500 rifles from Serbia's Zastava, worth about $960,000 because their own weapons were outdated.

Mr. Lukač stressed the RS MIA members must be able to protect their own and the lives of RS citizens from terrorist and any other attacks that could jeopardize them.

He reiterated that the information about the alleged training of children from the RS in Russian camps was false.
