BANJA LUKA, February 23 (FENA) - Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó has expressed support for the reforms that will integrate BiH into the European Union (EU), for whose enlargement, he said, there are economic and security reasons.
After meeting with BiH Foreign Minister Igor Crnadak and representatives of parliaments in BiH during the international ministerial conference on the topic of European integration of BiH and countries of the region, held today in Banja Luka, Mr. Szijjártó said that his country supported the activation of membership for NATO - MAP for BiH.
"Hungary, as the chair of the Visegrad Group, supports Bosnia and Herzegovina's integration into the EU and NATO," Mr. Szijjártó said at a press conference.
He believes that the EU enlargement should take place before 2025.
"I think the negotiations must be sped up when it comes to Serbia and Montenegro because it will attract other countries on the path of integration," he said.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Igor Crnadak said that the collocutors of the meeting discussed further steps to be taken after BiH delivers the responses to the European Commission Questionnaire on February 28th and the way in which the Visegrad Group, presided over by Hungary, can support BiH's efforts to join the EU as soon as possible.
