Čović once again points to the need to amend the Election Law

FENA Press release

SARAJEVO, February 26 (FENA) - It is necessary to amend the Election Law, because there cannot be another situation where one ethnic group elects representatives in government of another ethnic group," said Chair of the BiH Presidency Dragan Čović during a meeting in Geneva with president of the UN General Assembly Miroslav Lajčak.

He emphasized that amending the Election Law would mean following decisions of the Human Rights Court in Strasbourg, and the Constitutional Court of BiH.

Čović once again congratulated Lajčak on taking over the duty as the president of this-year's chairmanship of the UN General Assembly and expressed full support of delegation of BiH to his work.

Čović also met with Secretary General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres and informed him about human rights in BiH. He stated there is a high level of cooperation with the Office of Resident Coordinator of the United Nations and Resident Representative of UNDP in BiH.

He spoke about participation of BiH in the UN peacekeeping missions as a direct contribution to preservation of the world peace and stability, Presidency of BiH stated.
