LIVNO, Mar 2 (FENA) - President of HDZ BiH and Chairman of BiH Presidency, Dragan Covic, held a working meeting in Livno on Friday with representatives of the HDZ BiH municipal organizations in the Herzeg-Bosnia Canton (HBC).
The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, Borjana Kristo, Prime Minister of Herzeg-Bosnian Canton, Ivica Jozic, and President of the Herzeg-Bosnian Cantonal Committee of HDZ BiH, Ivica Bresic.
According to Bresic’s words, they discussed all issues crucial for the Croatian people, as well as for the HDZ BiH, i.e. the changes of the Election Law, the European path of BiH, the upcoming elections and all other vital issues related to Livno and HBC.
Covic underlined that he discussed all of the above topics in order to have insight in the situation in the field before the Central Committee's session at which the 2018 General Election Strategy should be adopted.
He announced that he would visit all the places in BiH where the Croats lived in order to, in direct communication with the people, see what should be pointed out so that the HDZ BiH would be the pivotal party of the Croatian people at the elections.
President Covic added that this opportunity was also used to inform the members and party officials on the foreign policy agenda, because, as he said, media reports about the activities can be completely misguiding.
Commenting on the process of amending the Election Law of BiH, Covic said that he was not sure that the necessary changes would be made in the next two months.
- I believe that we have done enough on our side to motivate the dominant Bosniak parties to recognize the fact that further political crises and dealing with themselves were not in favor of them, nor of anyone else - Covic underlined.
He added that Bosnia and Herzegovina could have got candidate status in June if it had solved the problem related to amending the Election Law.
"If we fail, we will have a political crisis and that is another rhetoric. Our stand is to be extremely positive, and the minimum we are asking for is that the Croat representatives are elected by the Croat people - Covic explained.
