SARAJEVO, March 12 (FENA) - Deputy Speaker of the BiH Council of Ministers and Minister of Finance and Treasury Vjekoslav Bevanda met today with the Head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission, Nadeem Ilahi, who has been in Bosnia and Herzegovina since last week.
At the meeting, the two officials concluded that it is a positive thing that the basic conditions have been met in order to continue the IMF arrangement and get the second tranche to the entities, and that it is necessary to continue with the implementation of reforms in order to fulfill the guidelines from the Letter of Intent.
Minister Bevanda briefed the Head of the IMF Mission about the process of adopting the amendments to the Law on Deposit Insurance of BiH, which was temporarily withdrawn from a parliamentary procedure since it did not get the support from the majority, although it had previously received unanimous support from the Managing Board of the Deposit Insurance Agency and the Council of Ministers of BiH.
Bevanda and Ilahi agreed that it is necessary to implement the set reforms as soon as possible because all these activities take place in the election year when, as previous experiences have shown, the overall efficiency of the state is even lower.
The meeting was also attended by the Resident Representative of the IMF in BiH Francisco Parodi, stated the Ministry of Finance and Treasury of BiH.
