Izetbegović meets with WIPO Director General with Francis Gurry

SARAJEVO, March 14 (FENA) - The BiH Presidency Member Bakir Izetbegović received today Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Francis Gurry and expressed his support to this organization, pointing out that BiH is a member of WIPO and a signatory to 26 conventions so far.

He emphasized that consistent protection of intellectual property is an important segment of every state and that BiH has the capacities to protect its autochthonous products, and that some producers have already received certificates and acquired the necessary protection at the state level.

Izetbegović said that BiH expects the World Intellectual Property Organization to continue its cooperation with the Institute for Intellectual Property in the field of regulation and protection of rights and to provide access and exchange of data in the field of intellectual property through linking in IT sector.

He stressed that the Council of Ministers of BiH will soon adopt a Strategy on the Implementation of Intellectual Property Rights, based on which BiH will intensify its efforts to strengthen the system of combating violation of these rights, stated the BiH Presidency.
