SARAJEVO, March 15 (FENA) - The Civic Alliance (GS) supports the proposal of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) of BiH for a joint platform of civic and left parties at the upcoming general elections, without guarantees for anyone’s individual position of power, the GS stated.
“We at the GS are ready, right now, to start the talks on the joint election platform, the arrangements of the joint platform and a single joint candidate of the left for the BiH Presidency member in the 2018 General Elections. We also welcome the invitation of the President of the Democratic Front (DF), Željko Komšić, that all parties of civic provenance unite in order to defeat the nationalist octopus, which rules in large part because of the disunion of the civic opposition,” the statement reads.
The Civic Alliance believes that it is possible to return to the path "jointly laid out in the Jahorina Declaration and to show that the idea of a civic and united Bosnia and Herzegovina is greater than anyone, individually and together, and more important than any mandate, above any lump-sum and anyone’s ego and vanity."
In line with the conclusions of the 1st Congress of the GS, the party expects a concrete proposal for arrangements of cooperation or unification.
GS, they stress, has been actively advocating the idea of coming together and having the joint election platform for the left and civic parties, initiatives and movements in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The GS believes that an integral part of an agreement on the joint platform - whatever the arrangement - must be a very clear list of things to commit to before the public and voters, and that this "has to be fulfilled after winning the elections".
The Civic Alliance also invites Our Party to openly declare on a joint platform and set aside personal differences.
