SARAJEVO, March 16 (FENA) - Preparations for the forthcoming Western Balkans Summit in London was one of the topics of today's meeting in Sarajevo between BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Igor Crnadak and Minister of State for Europe and America at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Kingdom Sir Alan Duncan.

“As far as the Summit is concerned, expectations are high and we are very pleased with the fact that, in addition to positive stories and good cooperation in the region, the summit puts in the forefront a number of topics related to security, the rule of law and fight against corruption. Also, for the first time, on the same day that foreign ministers meet, a meeting of interior ministers will be held as well,” Minister Crnadak said after the meeting.

Minister Duncan said that the London Summit will concentrate on economic stability, among other things, and added that they want to include young people as well, because they are the future.

He congratulated BiH on the progress, adding that Great Britain would continue to support BiH in implementing reforms and on making the necessary steps towards EU accession.

"I'm sorry that as you are working on joining in, we have decided to leave the EU, but in any case, I can say that we might leave the EU, but we will not leave Europe or this region and we will not turn our back to this part of the world," said Duncan.

Duncan also spoke about, as he put it, "the use of the chemical agent" in the attempted murder in the UK.

"We know the origin of this chemical poison and we know it is forbidden and that its possession is in contradiction with the Chemical Weapons Conventions. This agent was used and it was hideous and unacceptable,” stressed Duncan.

The British Minister for Europe said that due to the lack of appropriate response from the Russian Federation, Britain has decided to expel 23 Russian diplomats from London.

"Whether this was a deliberate act by Russia, or Russia has lost its chemical agent, which should not have existed in the first place, I need to say this for two reasons, the first being that this is not only a threat to the United Kingdom but also to the whole world that has banned these nerve toxins whose use we have not seen on the European soil since 1945. The second reason is to thank all the countries in the world and the region that have supported us in our joint effort to make the world realize that this is a threat to everyone, not just the UK,” said Duncan.
