SARAJEVO, March 27 (FENA) - Minister of Security of BiH Dragan Mektić and the U.S. Ambassador to BiH Maureen Cormack signed in Sarajevo today Memorandum of Understanding between the Council of Ministers of BiH and the U.S. Government on donation of the Personal Identification Secure Comparison and Evaluation System and Memorandum of Understanding between Ministry of Security of BiH and Ministry of Energy of the USA on prevention of illegal trade of nuclear and radioactive material.
Memorandum of Intent implies donation of the Personal Identification Secure Comparison and Evaluation System (PISCES) and the final beneficiary of this system is BiH Border Police.
This system will help Border Police to identify suspicious passengers on the spot according to the existing list of suspects and according to the official data base of Interpol. System will also enable BiH authorities to collect, compare and analyze data during investigations.
Government of the USA, in cooperation with the BiH CoM, plans to install and maintain the entire hardware and software necessary for PISCES system, starting with the Sarajevo International Airport, and to subsequently expand it to other airports and border crossings in BiH.
Memorandum of Understanding creates a framework for cooperation in preventing illegal trade of nuclear and other radioactive material.
Ministry of Energy of the USA will secure equipment for detection of radiation and training for members of the Directorate for Coordination of Police Bodies of BiH, Ministry of Security of BiH stated.
